Where Did My Free Time Go? Oh Right, Assisted Living Ate It (Again!)

Long time no type! Ever feel like your life is a delicate stack of Jenga blocks, and your Assisted Living/Memory Care job is that one friend who can't resist poking at it? Yeah, that's been my last little while.
Between saying our goodbyes to some dear residents, welcoming bright new faces (and their lovely, sometimes slightly bewildered, families), showing the ropes to the newbies on the team (who are awesome, by the way!), and oh yeah, that little visit from the state survey folks (which is always as relaxing as a root canal), let's just say my personal life took a little... vacation. Without me.
It's funny, isn't it? After all these years in the wonderful world of ALF/MC, I still find myself doing the "work-life balance cha-cha." Two steps forward, whoops-tripped-over-a-regulation-and-fell-backwards one step. But you know what? Every time the job tries to pull a sneaky takeover, I learn a new little trick to wrestle back some "me" time. It's like leveling up in the "How Not To Live At Work" video game.
Let's be real, it's SO easy to let this amazing, demanding job become your whole world. But finding that sweet spot of "mostly balanced, with occasional delightful (and sometimes slightly chaotic) imbalance" is key to not just surviving, but actually thriving in this field.
So, if you see me occasionally wearing mismatched socks because I forgot laundry exists, or if my dinner consists of crackers and cheese because cooking felt like climbing Mount Everest, you'll know why. I'm just over here, doing the balance boogie.
And hey, if you're struggling to find that daily balance and feel stuck in the loop, let's chat!
